Why This Category

The highest-repeat format in the range

Dry treats get bought occasionally. Lickable treats get bought weekly. In many Asian markets the single-serve stick has become a default purchase — which makes it the strongest format for building a subscription-style repeat pattern.

  • Highest palatability — high moisture and strong aroma; very few cats refuse it, which matters for the cat segment
  • Fast repeat purchase — typically consumed in days, not weeks
  • High perceived value per unit — single-serve format supports a price point that looks generous next to its actual cost
  • Interaction product — hand-feeding creates the human-animal moment that drives owner loyalty
  • Easy for retail — small footprint, high turns per facing
One honest caveat: this is the most technically demanding format we run. High moisture means sterilisation and seal integrity are critical, and packaging machinery has minimum runs. Expect a longer sampling cycle than dry formats.

Texture and unit format

Steamed texture close-up
Puree texture. Smooth through to fibre-visible. Texture is set through formulation, not by adding humectants.
Steamed grading comparison against a scale reference
Stick and pouch sizes. Single-serve stick and larger pouch shot together against a scale reference.
Raw material as received, before processing
Sealed unit. A filled and sealed stick before sterilisation — seal integrity is checked as part of batch release.

⚠️ Specification ranges above describe the format in general and are not a certificate of composition. Final values — including protein source, moisture, unit size and count per pack — are agreed per project and recorded in the specification sheet attached to your quotation. Sterilisation parameters are validated for the specific formulation.

Packaging and quality control

This format runs on film print and thermal sterilisation, so make sure the image set shows both — they are the two things that most often decide whether a project is viable.

Stand-up pouch, flat pouch and tub packaging formats side by side
Film and print. Multi-language film print with tear notch. Your artwork on your format.
Laboratory technician testing finished goods under a microscope
Laboratory and QC. Finished-goods testing and seal integrity checks against the agreed panel.
Grading and screening before packing
Sterilisation and seal check. Thermal process validation forms part of batch release for this format, not a separate step.
Customisation

What you can change

In this category, flavour and unit format do most of the differentiation work.

Flavour

Protein base and blend. Broth strength and aroma profile are both adjustable — aroma is what sells the first stick.

Unit & pack

Stick weight, pouch size, sticks per multi-pack, and whether units are sold loose or in strips.

Texture

Smooth puree through to fibre-visible. Also suits senior pets and post-dental-work feeding.

Packaging print

Your artwork and language on film. Multi-language packs for markets with more than one official language.

Delivery

Timeline and terms

This format runs on a longer sampling cycle than dry treats — plan accordingly.

01

Sampling

7–14 days from specification agreement, plus courier transit. Flavour and texture iteration may add a round.

02

Production

25–35 days from deposit and artwork approval. Packaging film lead time can extend this — confirm early.

03

Shipping

FOB Qingdao or CIF. Ambient-stable, so sea freight is viable. Higher unit weight than dry treats — we'll quote both air and sea.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does this need refrigeration in transit or storage?
No — the product is thermally sterilised inside a sealed pack and is ambient-stable unopened. Only after opening does it need refrigeration and consumption within one to two days. That's a consumer instruction on pack, not a logistics constraint for you.
What's the minimum run for a custom flavour?
It depends on the formulation and the film specification. High-moisture lines have practical minimums that dry lines don't. We'll state the real number in your quotation rather than publish a figure that doesn't apply to your case — see Low MOQ.
Why is sampling longer than freeze-dried?
A high-moisture product has to be sterilised as a sealed unit, and seal integrity and thermal validation are part of the approval — not just taste. Getting that right takes a few more days than drying meat.
Can I do a multi-language pack?
Yes. Film print supports multiple languages, which is useful if you distribute into markets with more than one official language, or want one SKU across several countries.
Is this suitable for dogs as well as cats?
Yes — dog formulations exist, usually in a larger stick or pouch. That said, the format's commercial strength is the cat segment, where repeat purchase is highest.
